Quiz PR03

In early 2013, SFL management decided to complement the SFL Quality Management Manual with a Process Manual (SFL-QM-00021). The Process Manual describes the key SFL activities through 7 high-level processes.

One of these processes is PR03 “Perform Engineering Works”, which describes the engineering activities performed by SOFINEL. PR03 is a high-level description of the engineering sequence to be followed to conduct typical design activities. It covers both the production of SFL deliverables and the surveillance performed by SFL on suppliers.
Links between PR03 and processes PR02 “Initiate and manage a Project” and PR05 “Engineering change management” are identified and documented.

The main steps addressed in PR03 are:
- Definition of the organization and of the engineering methods
- How to collect the necessary input data at the start of a design activity
- How to manage a design file
- How to check an engineering deliverable
- How to document and archive an engineering activity
- How to conduct the surveillance of suppliers design activities
- How to integrate the lessons learned

In the specific context of each SOFINEL Project, each step is further detailed and supported by specific design procedures (DP) under the responsibility of the concerned engineering sections.

The feedback from internal and external audits shows that the knowledge of the PR03 process should be improved among the people working with it.
